Staying in the Middle

meditationThis morning, I found a meditation written and posted by Buddhist teacher Pema Chodron called, "Staying in the Middle."  She wrote, 

“Becoming intimate with the queasy feeling of being in the middle of nowhere only makes our hearts more tender.  When we are brave enough to stay in the middle, compassion arises spontaneously.  By not knowing, not hoping to know, and not acting like we know what’s happening, we begin to access our inner strength.” 

I loved how she described a state of relaxed receptivity.  Basically, she was telling us to receive without having to do more than stay open, saying “Yes.”

As I reflect on practicing relaxed receptivity, I am aware that it is absolutely the Way of Divine Mind.  It is how I can practice Universal Love.  In attuning to someone’s experience I allow, I appreciate and I am present nonjudgmentally.  I am grateful to read Pema Chodron’s reminder.
