SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Building and grounds

  • Assist in the care and organization of the building interior and exterior
  • Help maintain grounds, parking lot, gardens
  • Provide upkeep for outdoor sacred spaces
  • Organize and promote quarterly community workdays
  • Participate in workdays
  • Help with special building and grounds projects
  • Ensure that winter clean-ups and clearing occur as necessary

Stewardship Team

MISSION:
We joyously channel our divine, abundant resources to increase our community’s financial and social well-being.  Our abundance allows us to spread UCP’s Mission and Vision deeply and broadly. 

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES (3 Separate Functions):


Fundraising

  • Help organize or run fundraising events. Previous events have included
  • Run 4 Peace, Silent Auctions, Concerts, Yard Sales, LoveFeasts, Pick-A-Party, GoFundMe campaigns,
    New ideas welcome: Events, merchandise sales, corporate sponsored events classes/workshops offered inside and outside UCP  

 Financial

  • Help create and/or promote a Legacy Giving Program
  • Assist with annual Intentional Giving campaign

Member Engagement

  • Reaches out to members and visitors, discovers individual talents and interests and encourages them to get involved. 
  • Identifies and coordinates special events. Encourages engagement
  • Creates a buddy-system for new Members
  • Member Appreciation: phone calls, cards, etc.
  • Help organize Volunteer Appreciation 
  • Admin help: Breeze updates and calendar

Youth and Family Ministry (YFM)

MISSION:

As a spiritual youth community, we provide a safe place of love and acceptance where our teens and children have the opportunity to experience the awareness of their oneness with God and all of life, via age-appropriate activities. Our purpose is to create programs and experiences that invite the Divine potential in each individual to grow and expand.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Assist Youth Ed Director with the children upstairs on Sunday morning 
  • Youth Education Volunteer (share your talents and interests with youth upstairs on Sundays, i.e., songs, dances, etc.)
  • Activities for fun and bonding (such as helping with Trunk or Treat)
  • Community outreach locally and elsewhere
  • Create and provide a teen program

Hospitality and Welcoming

MISSION:

We embrace our visitors and our members and friends with genuine caring in a warm and welcoming space.  We provide a loving space for members and guests to get to know one another.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Greeters

  • Serve as a Sunday Greeter before the Service
    • Name tags, programs, welcome packets, monthly calendar of events. 
  • Serve as usher during the service 
  • Be a friendly ambassador for UCP!

Post- Sunday Service Hosts

  • Identify and connect with visitors and newer Sunday participants to ensure they feel welcome and to connect them with any additional resources if/as needed. Make sure they return their blue cards and receive a gift.

 Kitchen Angels

  • Kitchen Angels team is scheduled each week for set up & clean up
  • Team sets up Fellowship refreshments (coffee, tea & food) for after service
  • Schedules refreshment donations
  • Help organize potlucks

We've Got Your Back Team (WGYB)

MISSION:
Our mission is to be a training and resource center for the development of volunteer teams for persons with health concerns or other special needs in the UCP community.

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Emergency Support for Congregants

    • Provide food, transportation, or friendly visits to housebound congregants
    • Run errands for housebound congregants
    • Provide rides to and from UCP for congregants who don’t drive.
    • Training available

Sacred Activism

MISSION:

We awaken to both our highest spiritual selves and to the current experience of the world around us. From an awareness of Oneness, we put into practice our highest values of love and service. We therefore approach social justice, human rights and earth rights as a spiritual practice as we endeavor to help create a world that works for everyone.

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Assist in one more of the following activities:

  • Grow awareness about social justice issues through the lens of Sacred Activism (growth through education, service, and spirit.)
  • Communicate with each other and our community, while creating opportunities to connect and learn from each other about social justice issues.
  • Take loving action in response to the group’s Spiritual guidance.
  • Consciously hold all people, places and situations in prayer and intention.
  • Participate in Sacred Activism Events

Outreach

MISSION:

We seek out and engage lovingly in care and enrichment for members of both our local and more distant communities.

  

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Collect donations at UCP, such as:
    • Food
    • Warm clothing and blankets
    • Diapers
    • Books
    • School supplies
    • Personal care items
  • Organize delivering collected items to the appropriate center
  • Organize and participate in the Christmas Angel Tree program
  • Organize UCP groups to volunteer at local outreach centers which might include diaper and food banks, shelters, IFC, the Rogers-Eubanks Neighborhood Association, and others
  • Help organize and participate in agreed upon community events.

EarthCare

MISSION: 
We shepherd UCP through our commitment and covenant to live consciously with our respect for the web of all life, and to live in such a way as to leave the smallest negative impact as possible on the planet.  

 

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:

Assist in one more of the following activities:

  • Promote and participate in our compost initiative. Maintain on a regular basis.
  • Lead activities aiming to protect the climate, environment, and all living beings.
  • Assist the Earthcare team in planning, carrying out and achieving goals for obtaining UCP’s ongoing certification from Unity Worldwide’s Earthcare Program.
  • Help the Earthcare team by networking with other environmental groups in our local community.
  • Help maintain and support the use of organic cleaning products and pest control for UCP
  • Adapt a no-harm attitude to all living creatures inside and outside the UCP building and grounds
  • Lead or participate in our quarterly Adopt-a-Hwy clean-up.
  • Help with Earthcare focused Outreach activities.

UCP Social Events Team

MISSION:
To create opportunities for the community to come together to relax, get to know one another better and have fun!

Spiritual Education

MISSION:

We support our congregants in deepening their experience of the Divine Truth within and in awakening to their power as co-creators with Spirit. 


SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES:    

  • Organize and/or lead book studies groups
  • Help with Spiritual Enrichment and Education classes 
  • Spiritual Enrichment Week (several opportunities)
  • Other spiritual classes, trainings or workshops
  • Help promote classes via social media and flyer distribution,
  • Facilitate a Sunday for Deeper Dive Discussion Group (Sunday’s after service discussion) (training available and recommended)
