jaki shelton greenUnity Center of Peace is excited to announce a line up of special programs we will be offering in February in honoring the legacy of the African American community.  As part of our observance, we are recognizing poet Jaki Shelton Green who has won multiple major awards, including the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame.  And this year has begun with the awarding of her biggest prize yet, selection as North Carolina’s first African-American Poet Laureate.  We will have a variety of books autographed by Ms. Green for sale after service each Sunday in February, 12:30 - 1pm.  We will also offer readings of poems from other African American poets, read by our members, at each service. Check out the video below for an introduction to Ms. Green and her work.
