Mandela wrote: "In the end, reconciliation is a spiritual process, which requires more than just a legal framework. It has to happen in the hearts and minds of people.” This guide builds on Mandela’s vision of reconciliation by inviting participants to share what is happening in their hearts and minds within the context of racial justice.
Truth challenges and liberates us. Reconciliation opens the door to working together for a brighter future. Truth and reconciliation together offer us a pathway toward a world without racism. What would that world look like? What do we need to do and talk about in order to get there?
To participate in this conversation, it is required that we watch a documentary filmed for Nelson Mandela International Day 2020 in advance. We are planning on showing the film "Truth and Reconciliation" on Saturday, May 22 at 7pm ET in preparation for our LRC Discussion on Sunday afternoon.
REGISTER HERE for the zoom links.
Once you have registered you'll receive a confirmation email with both zoom links, one for the documentary "Watch Party" showing on 5/22 and a separate zoom link for the LRC dialogue on 5/23.
If you are unable to attend the watch party on May 22 at 7pm, you may watch the documentary HERE on your own before Sunday, May 23rd.
The LRC meeting guidelines will need to be reviewed by each participant before the dialogue begins on May 23rd. GUIDELINES
