Fundraisers

A Pick-a-Party is an annual series of unique, community-hosted fundraising events organized by the Unity Center of Peace in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Rather than a single party, it is a seasonal collection of individual themed gatherings hosted by members and friends of the church. These gatherings take place either at the UCP campus or in private homes, with ticket sales directly benefiting the center.

Typical "Pick-a-Party" Events

Each event features its own personality and registration fee. Some notable examples hosted during the season include:

• Salsa Dance Blast: A dance workshop featuring basic salsa moves, a community Puerto Rican-style potluck, and family friendly ticket pricing.

• Poetry Gatherings: Events such as "From Rumi to Mary Oliver: Poems That Awaken the Heart" focused on shared reflection, poetry reading, and communal connection.

• Movie Nights: Film screenings held in the Unity Center of Peace Sanctuary (e.g., The Story of Everything).

• Outdoor Retreats: Multi-day excursions like the UCP Mountain Retreat at Cielo Sanctuary.

• Social Dinners: Past gatherings have included pool parties, Mediterranean feasts, and pizza sing-alongs.
