Our theme for this month is Peace. Looking at the world today, we can get discouraged and feel that all our prayers for peace are not being answered. But are we expecting some "supernatural" power to descend on earth and deliver us peace? Or is the realization of peace on earth the natural result of our ability to be at peace within ourselves? This Sunday we'll explore what part we play and how we can cultivate more inner peace, and ensure our actions reflect that experience of peace.

How blessed we are to be in a spiritual community where we are reminded of who we truly are, and how to connect with our Divine Self in order to create more love, joy and abundance in our lives. What a blessing to be surrounded by others who practice gratitude, generosity and loving-kindness. We have created something very special here. And this Sunday we are celebrating this by pledging together to help this community flourish. We will all participate in our Intentional Giving Ceremony (which might involve chocolate!), so please bring your green Intentional Giving cards, and let's see what else we can create together next year!

Many cultures all over the world observe some sort of tradition for remembering loved ones who have passed, and communicating our love for them in some way. Mexico celebrates El Día de Los Muertos, Gaelic cultures observe Samhain, Catholics observe All Saints Day. It's a human need we all have to reconnect with those we've lost by keeping their memory alive. And it's important that we do. This Sunday you'll have an opportunity to remember your loved one who has passed, or someone who has made a positive impact on your life, in a new ritual we are starting at UCP: Honoring our Ancestors. You are invited to bring a photo of your loved one, and place it on our altar. You may also share with us the biggest thing this person gave you, or taught you, that is still with you today. Please limit your photos to two so that everyone who wants to share has a chance to.

The power of suggestion is so potent, so effective in determining how we feel, how we think about things, how we behave and even our health and wellbeing. Unfortunately we are often unaware of the suggestions that affect us. Rev. Victoria will explored all the ways we are influenced by the subliminal suggestions in our culture. We learned how we can guard against negative or disempowering suggestions, and instead immerse ourselves in positive, powerful and loving suggestions that can enhance every area of our lives. We came away with specific tools to put to use right away.
