An Evolved Paradigm

This month will be an exploration of Conscious Evolution. All species evolve as they learn to adapt to changes in the most effective way possible. We self-aware human beings have a unique ability to consciously participate in our own evolution. In fact life is calling us to do this. A new paradigm is emerging within humanity; one of love...loving each other, loving our planet and recognizing the highest possibility within us. We can either choose to be of service to this emerging paradigm, or ignore it...at our own peril. This Sunday Rev. Victoria will share how we can embody that new emerging paradigm and actively participate in humanity's conscious evolution.

This Sunday offers a unique experience exploring the sounds and the silence of Spirit. We'll embody and explore our individual and collective spiritual sounds to raise our awareness of the flow of Spirit in us and as us. Our Sunday experience features selected posters from "Sounds of Religion," a Smithsonian poster exhibition that explores how rituals and gatherings of religious communities create a complex soundtrack of how people behave, how they're different, and how they're alike.

Rachel Carson once said, "There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature -- the assurance that dawn comes after night and spring after the winter." This Sunday we will look for, and find, the resurrection that's just on the other side of the crucifixion. We'll look at the symbolism of "rolling away the stone" and experience the joy in bringing that higher-dimensional love and light to heal the crucifixion experience. Then, we'll enjoy the fruits of our spiritual practice together in our Easter "chocolate communion."

How can the God of the Old Testament be the same God of the New Testament? With an evolutionary lens, there is a reasonable answer to this question. Rev Pat invites you to consider some Bible stories and verses that portray the evolution of our perception of God throughout the ages. Her newly published book Evolution in the Bible: An Integral Overview of the Hebrew Scriptures is the basis for this talk and the workshop following the service. The Science of Awe

When was the last time you had an experience of such joy, bliss, enchantment, or jaw-dropping "aha" that you were instantly, and deeply, connected with others, or with the world? We're talking about the experience of awe, which tends to erase the boundaries between ourselves and others and brings us into the experience of the sacred. This month, we will explore the transformational power of awe and learn how we can reconnect with a sense of wonder.
 
As inspiration for this journey Rev. Victoria will be drawing from 2 books: The New Science of Wonder and How it Can Transform Your Life by Dacher Keltner, and Enchantment: Awakening Wonder in an Anxious Age by Katherine May.  You do not need the books to participate. They're only listed here if you would like to deepen your experience.
 
This coming Sunday we begin our exploration by looking at the different ways "awe" can be experienced, and how healing a sense of wonder can be for our spirit, mind and body.
