We're All In This Together
"We're all in this together." That's what one of our teens wrote on our Flower Bed Vision Board this Sunday. That simple expression encapsulated the feeling we all walked away with after the service.
After my talk on A Vision for a Healed Planet, I led a simple visioning process where we all opened to a Divine Vision of what our planet, and all of humanity, would look like in 20 or 30 years... provided we began to implement the solutions that are currently available to us to reverse climate change and create a socially just world. Then everyone wrote a word or short phrase that captured that vision on a "flower stickie", came up to the platform and placed it on our board, created a vibrate and consciousness-expanding Flower Bed of Possibility. Together, we are making a difference!
During the talk I also read a brief section from Emerson's Essay on Nature. A few folks asked if I could post that. Here it is:
“After every foolish day, we sleep off the fumes and furies of its hours; and though we are always engaged with particulars, and often enslaved by them, we bring with us to every experiment the innate universal laws. These, while they exist in the mind as ideas, stand around us in nature forever embodied, a present sanity to expose and cure the insanity of man.”
My take in this is that Emerson is acknowledging humanity’s folly, but also the inherent spiritual principle of good within us… which is in potential… but that is already fully embodied in nature. And reconnecting with nature helps us awaken that innate potential.
